Content Refresh Strategy: Updating Old Posts

Why refreshing beats writing new

An old post that already ranks is often worth more than a brand new one. Updating it preserves the URL, the backlinks, and the history, while giving search engines a reason to re-crawl.

Start with posts that still get traffic but have not been touched in a year. Combine this with a technical SEO checklist for small blogs so the refresh fixes structure as well as words.

Rewrite the introduction, update any statistics, and remove advice that is no longer true. Then add internal links to newer articles you have published since.

Anchor text matters when you add those links. Following anchor text best practices makes the refresh useful rather than decorative.
