How to Find Orphan Pages

An orphan page is any published page with no inbound internal links pointing to it. Search engines struggle to discover these pages, and readers almost never reach them.

Why this matters

To find them, build a map of every link on your site and compare it against your full list of published posts. Anything that never appears as a destination is an orphan.

Fixing an orphan is usually simple. Find two or three related articles and add a contextual link, following anchor text best practices so the new link is descriptive rather than generic.

This is where internal linking basics pay off most. A page that was invisible last week can start earning traffic once a few relevant articles point to it.
